For Those Who Feel Deeply

Finding Strength in Sensitivity

While the rest of the world seems to have ten layers of protection, on a good day, Highly Sensitive People might have three.

Hi, I’m Dr. Lauren Bartholomew. As a Highly Sensitive Person myself, I understand that moving through the world with high sensitivity means moving through the world differently—and that fully understanding and deeply respecting our differences can bring us from an overwhelmed puddle on the floor back to our authentic selves.

Finding a way to thrive rather than just survive is essential, but is also understandably difficult when you’re struggling to find tools and coping mechanisms that work with your sensitivity.

You know the day-to-day doesn’t have to feel so overwhelming. You’re ready for understanding and guidance—and I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with you.

You May Benefit from Therapy for HSPs If…

You experience the world on a deeper level than most

Perhaps you’ve been told by others that you’re “too sensitive,” or you’ve found it difficult to cope with sensory and emotional triggers throughout the day. This might show up as being deeply impacted by others’ pain or suffering, feeling exhausted more than rested, or struggling to take feedback and criticism from others.

You need a space where you feel understood, seen, and validated

Understanding ourselves as Highly Sensitive People is vital to our well-being, and finding a space where you can be seen and validated in your experiences can help. With therapy for HSPs, you’ll find an understanding and compassionate therapist who gets it, and who can help guide you through the highs and lows of your sensitivity.

You want to find strength in your sensitivity

As a Highly Sensitive Person, I understand what it feels like to puddle after a long and stressful day—and I have learned over time how to come back to myself, as well. I am passionate about helping my Highly Sensitive clients understand their sensitivity, find their inner strength, and learn how to move through the world from a place of radical self-care.

In my work, I take a non-judgmental, accepting and validating approach to therapy. Highly Sensitive People who seek therapy with me are met by a clinician who understands on a deep level what it means to be highly sensitive, and who won’t minimize or invalidate their experiences as they move through the world.

In therapy, I work from psychodynamic, humanistic, and internal family systems approaches to help you cope with the stresses and challenges of being a Highly Sensitive Person. Using these approaches, we will help you understand your sensitivity, explore tools that help you build inner strength, and give you the space you need to find your authentic self.
